Paolo L. Bandera "Segni Entropici Di Urbanizzazione"

For well over 25 years, Paolo Bandera has been a pillar of the Italian industrial/noise scene, exploring extreme dimensions in sound with his solo work as Sshe Retina Stimulants, his foundational work with the group Sigillum S, and his collaborations with The Fortieth Day, The Sodality, and others.
Over time, Bandera’s musical output has become increasingly commingled with his psycho-geographic explorations of the world, informing much of his later Sshe Retina Stimulants catalog. He has recently begun releasing music under his given name, Paolo L. Bandera, that strikes at the more personal nature of his experiential travels. With this new project, Bandera says, he “developed the urge to tackle even more structured themes and forms, with almost academic outlines, straddling science and philosophy.”
"Segni Entropici Di Urbanizzazione" is just the second tape Bandera has recorded under his own name, following closely on the heels of the superb "Registrazioni di Campi Tellurici" tape Bandera self-released just last month. "Segni Entropici Di Urbanizzazione" is a magnificent work of deconstructed electronic sound. It is temporally disjointed, dislocated, but not abrasive. Labyrinthine and transcendent, the tracks confound and inspire in equal measure, calling to mind an absurdist rendering of some of Roedelius’s later works. As Bandera himself describes it, the music “centers on empty spaces and unusual resonances, in search of a purely electronic sound, with a deeply conceptual background and a clear documentary inspiration.”
Influencing Machine is honored to present this new recording by Paolo L. Bandera, offering a renewed appreciation of his entire body of work. It also acts as a precursor to the impending vinyl reissue of Sshe Retina Stimulants 1994 recording “Kusa’i” that Influencing Machine will be releasing later this year.
